To use different image on a frame of an icon, click the 'change image' link. A search box will pop up. Search for a picture. When you find one you like, click on it. The picture will drop into the buddy icon maker.
How do I make an icon with more than 3 frames??
To change the number of frames in your icon, scroll down to the last frame of the buddy icon editor and change the pulldown menu. Right now, icons can have as little as 1 frame and as many as 6 frames.

You can remove an image from a frame of your icon by clicking the 'no image' link on the row for that frame. After you remove the image, it's a good idea to pick a background color.

Clicking on the buttons with the three dots and arrow is a shortcut to copy the same colors and settings from the first frame of the icon to all frames of the icon. It will save you a lot of time when you want to try out different fonts and sizes.

To change the size of your buddy icon, select a different size from the pulldown menu that is right under the 'make my icon' button. For AIM buddy icons, use the 48 pixel size.
How do I change the speed of my icon?
You can control how long each frame is displayed and each frame of the icon can be displayed for a different amount of time. To change how long each frame is displayed, enter the number of hundreths of a second you want the frame to show. For example: to show the frame for one second, enter 100 in the box. To show the frame for 5 seconds enter 500 in the box. To show the frame for a quarter of a second, enter 25. The small the number, the faster the icon.
